City of Norwood Payneham & St Peters recognised for access advocacy
03/11/2025
The City of Norwood Payneham & St Peters was recently honoured with an Access Advocate Commendation at the World Sight Day event hosted by Guide Dogs SA/NT at Government House.
The commendation recognises the City’s commitment to creating a more inclusive and accessible community through Human Guide Training, which equips staff with the confidence and skills to support and safely guide people who are blind or vision impaired in Council facilities, services and community settings.
This training has enhanced how our workforce approaches inclusion. By strengthening customer service, improving accessibility at public events and shaping the way we deliver programs as well as day-to-day interactions across the organisation.
We extend our thanks to everyone who took part, and in particular the Learning & Development Unit for coordinating participation and ensuring so many staff could attend.
This recognition reflects a truly collaborative effort across Regulatory Services, Citizen Services, Traffic & Integrated Transport, Community Services, Libraries, Events & Marketing and City Services, each playing an important role in making our City welcoming and accessible for all.
The City of Norwood Payneham & St Peters is proud to be part of a movement that champions inclusivity and empowers staff to make a positive difference in the lives of people with vision impairment.
