Ready, set, splash! Bookings open for the Payneham Memorial Swimming Centre grand opening community celebration

The wait is almost over! On Saturday, 10 October, the City of Norwood Payneham & St Peters will officially open the doors to the reimagined Payneham Memorial Swimming Centre.

Following a transformative redevelopment, this cherished local landmark has been beautifully reborn as a state-of-the-art, premier aquatic and recreational destination.

To celebrate this monumental milestone, the Council is hosting a free Grand Opening Community Celebration.

Bookings are now open and you won't want to miss your chance to be among the first to experience this spectacular new facility!

Experience the fun: Three celebration sessions

To ensure a safe, comfortable and high-quality experience for everyone, the free community celebration on 10 October will be run across three dedicated sessions.

Each session will run for 1.5 hours, commencing from 11am.

While entry is completely free, registrations are essential. Visitors of all ages will enjoy:

• Full access to the brand-new pools and world-class water features
• An exciting lineup of family-friendly entertainment and festivities
• A vibrant, celebratory community atmosphere to kick off the swim season.

A transformation built for fun and fitness

The redevelopment represents one of the Council's most significant investments in community recreation and well-being, designed to serve generations to come.

During your session, you can explore and enjoy the Centre’s incredible new amenities, including:

• The 50-metre Olympic-sized outdoor pool
• Two thrilling waterslides descending from a 14-metre-tall tower
• A children's zero-depth waterplay splash pad
• State-of-the-art indoor facilities, including an indoor lap pool.

A community legacy

Mayor Robert Bria expressed his excitement as the Centre prepares to welcome the public back under the day-to-day management of experienced leisure operators, BlueFit.

"We have reimagined this facility to ensure it remains a contemporary and leading destination for our diverse community for decades to come," says Mayor Bria.

"We are excited to welcome the community back to the Payneham Memorial Swimming Centre, and there’s no better way to do that than with a day of free celebrations, festivities and entertainment."
