After almost 25 years of continuous service on the Eastern Health Authority (EHA) Board, Cr Sue Whitington elected not to renominate for her position as one of two Elected Members representing the City of Norwood Payneham & St Peters.

At its meeting on Monday 3 February, Mayor Robert Bria offered his thanks to Cr Whitington for her sustained and valuable contributions.

“Representing the public health interests of the ratepayers and residents of City of Norwood Payneham & St Peters for almost a quarter of a century is a magnificent achievement.

“On behalf of current and former colleagues, I extend sincere congratulations to Cr Whitington for a quarter of a century of service on a regional subsidiary that has complex requirements and the important charter of promoting and enforcing public health standards that keep our community safe and healthy.”

Cr Whitington first joined EHA shortly following her election to Council in May 2000. During her tenure, she also held the position of Chair for 12 years.

“Cr Whitington’s extensive experience in the health science sector underpinned her contributions for more than two decades.

“She leaves a wonderful legacy of service for others to aspire to.”

In resounding agreement and a fitting tribute to Cr Whitington’s commitment, loyalty and professionalism, all Elected Members and those in the gallery rose to give Cr Whitington a standing ovation.

Lost for words, Cr Whitington gratefully accepted the acknowledgement and applause for her many years of dedicated service to EHA.
