These five products will help you stay healthy this footy season

08/04/2025
When much loved Central Markets retailer House of Health opened a Norwood store in 2022, one of the key aims was to make a healthy lifestyle more accessible.
“Health foods sometimes come with a stigma that they're expensive, and that's especially tricky when we're going through a cost of living crisis,” says co-owner Chester Frank.
“But we wanted to tell people in the eastern suburbs that you can live well and have healthy, nutrient-dense foods at an affordable price.”
The larger floor space also allowed House of Health to expand their product range significantly and become more of an all-embracing wellness space.
“Now we've got everything from bulk foods and organic meats to tools for meditation and ritual items.
"Because we believe that health isn't just what you put in your body — how you live your life is how healthy you are.”
Ahead of the AFL Gather Round, when Norwood Oval will host games on Saturday 12 April and Sunday 13 April, Chester has shared his top tips for staying healthy.
Whether you're playing, coaching or simply watching the footy, here's what you need to know.
For Hydration: Sodii Hydration Salts
Around 80% of people don't hydrate enough. This becomes an even bigger problem if you're playing sports. While most traditional rehydration options are full of refined sugar and chemicals, this product is sweetened with stevia and includes a combination of essential salts and minerals that assist pre- and post-hydration. And because it uses fruit oil in flavours like citrus, raspberry and salty grapefruit, it also tastes great.
Visit House Of Health from Thursday, April 10 to Sunday, April 13 and purchase any Sodii single flavour, and you'll get a free sample multi-pack (valued at $16.99) when you mention this offer.
For Building Muscles: Chief Collagen Protein
If you're trying to build muscles, you need protein. And though there's a wide range of options on the market, this one hits a lot of different markers in one supplement. One of the main ingredients is grass-fed bovine collagen, which is a very pure form of protein that is absorbed well by the body. In addition to the muscle recovery and growth you'd expect from standard protein, collagen helps with skin, joint, tendon and gut health. And because it's hydrolysed, it dissolves easily so it's extremely easy to mix in baking, smoothies or shakes.
For Muscle Relaxation: Sustainable Co Magnesium Flakes
Magnesium is something we all need, but if you take oral supplements a lot of it is broken down in the gut instead of being absorbed. You can bypass that by absorbing it transdermally with these flakes. Dissolve them in the bath, then when you jump in your muscles suck it all up and just melt. It's a great thing to do post-game or after a workout, but it's also useful in everyday life because it helps promote a sense of calm without the need to consume anything.
For Immunity: Best Of The Bone Bone Broth
Winter is sometimes called immunity season, and because most illness stems from the gut, it's more important than ever to look after your gut health at this time of year. This product takes bones from grass-fed Australian cattle and reduces them to create an extremely concentrated nutrient-dense paste. Taking a teaspoon in hot water on an empty stomach gives you a huge immune boost, and because it's very rich in gelatin and collagen, it also helps promote great nails, skin and hair.
For When You Need A Snack: Raw Slices and Boulder Chips
Most processed snacks are high in carbs and sugar, but our rotating range of 60 raw slices use organic nuts and raw products like cacao powder and freeze-dried fruit so what you're putting in your mouth is pure whole foods. The slices are extremely nutrient-dense so they're very filling, and they're refined sugar-free, gluten-free, keto and vegan. If you're looking for something savoury, try Boulder Chips made with avocado oil and olive oil instead of the highly processed oils that most chips use.
