Plant a tree and we’ll help cover the cost

22/04/2025
It’s well-known fact that trees play an important role in our communities, delivering a range of social, environmental and economic advantages.
Trees give us oxygen, store carbon and stabilise soil and are vital habitat for wildlife. They are a precious resource that cool and shade our homes and buildings, which in turn can reduce electricity costs and increase property value.
Perhaps most importantly, trees are our best way of adaptation to the impacts of climate change.
To help grow tree canopy in the City of Norwood Payneham & St Peters, the Council is offering property owners within the City, an $80 voucher to help cover the costs of planting an established tree in their property.
Why provide a tree incentive?
LiDAR technology shows that the greatest opportunity to increase tree canopy coverage in our City is by planting and maintaining trees on private land.
With 69% of the City’s land privately owned, backyards, gardens and private landscaped areas make significant contributions to our City’s tree canopy cover.
In addition to the Council’s target of 500 trees planted on Council-owned land this year, the Council is supporting residents and ratepayers to help us further increase canopy by planting established tress on privately owned land.
To help people cover the costs of planting an established tree, the Council is offering property owners within the City an $80 voucher towards an established tree to plant on their land.
Registration required. Limited vouchers available.
