NAIDOC Week 2025 at The Gallery: Strength, vision and legacy

25/06/2025

From 6–13 July 2025, communities across Australia will come together to honour NAIDOC Week, a time to celebrate and recognise the rich history, diverse cultures and remarkable achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

This year marks a significant milestone—50 years of NAIDOC Week celebrations—headlined with the powerful theme, The Next Generation: Strength, Vision & Legacy.

The theme speaks to a future shaped by the wisdom of Indigenous Elders, the strength of our communities and the vision of the next generation of First Nations leaders.

It reminds us that NAIDOC is not only a celebration but a movement—one grounded in truth, resilience and a deep commitment to self-determination.

As part of our local celebrations, we are proud to host a special exhibition in honour of NAIDOC Week 2025 in The Gallery at St Peters Town Hall Complex.

Works by acclaimed artist Linda Turner will be on display in the main gallery while other gallery spaces will showcase vibrant and thought-provoking pieces from Iwiri Arts, an artist-led organisation representing Anangu artists from the Central and Western Deserts.

These exhibitions offer a unique opportunity to experience the power of contemporary Indigenous art—works that speak of connection to Country, cultural continuity and community strength.

Through their creative expression, these artists reflect the enduring stories of their ancestors while lighting the path for future generations.

Bookings are now open and are essential to secure your place.

NAIDOC Week is a time for all Australians to engage with First Nations cultures, listen to stories, and walk alongside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

It’s a week that reminds us of the oldest, continuous living cultures on earth—and the importance of preserving, celebrating and supporting them.

“NAIDOC Week offers a reminder of the importance of reflection, learning, sharing and reconciliation and encourages us to incorporate these values into our daily life,” says Mayor Robert Bria.

“This year’s theme encourages us to consider that that the future is built on a foundation of respect, recognition and shared understanding of cultures.

“It’s an opportunity for our community to honour the deep cultural heritage of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, genuinely listen to their voices and stories, celebrate their ancient history, and strive to walk together towards a better future.”

Come and explore the exhibitions, learn from the art and voices of First Nations people, and be part of a celebration that recognises the strength of the past, the leadership of today and the legacy that will shape tomorrow.
