Look East Digital turns one: More than 150 stories from across the City

02/07/2025

This month marks one year since the launch of the Look East digital website—a milestone worth celebrating!

What began as a vision to better connect with our community and share the stories behind our City, has grown into a dynamic platform featuring over 150 articles and counting.

From behind-the-scenes perspectives at community projects, to profiles of local businesses, to updates on Council initiatives and events, Look East has quickly become a trusted and engaging source of information for people across our region and beyond.

It’s also allowed the Council to expand our reach far beyond the limitations of traditional printed newsletters and documents.

“Look East Digital has bridged a gap in our communications with citizens and the broader community,” says Mayor Robert Bria.

“We are now able to publish and distribute our updates in a timely, accessible and relevant way with maximum impact.”

Whether you’re at home, at work or on the go, you can now explore the latest Council news, stories, videos and more with just a click.

“While our traditional Look East print magazine still very much has a place and purpose, Look East Digital has given us a platform to share even more great stories from across our community, profile the people who make our City the best place to live and work, and dig deeper into the projects and services that Council delivers for the whole community,” adds Mayor Bria.

A key benefit of the platform is its integration with a new Electronic Direct Mail (EDM) system, meaning subscribers now receive articles straight to their inboxes in real time—no delays, no hassle.

All previous subscribers have been automatically transferred to the new system, with a full review of readership data to be shared after a full year of activity.

We’re proud of what’s been achieved in the past year:

  • more than 150 articles published
  • multimedia storytelling through video, graphics and interactive content
  • showcasing local businesses, events and community initiatives, and
  • stronger engagement and broader reach across the City and beyond.

At the heart of this work is a dedicated team who write, film, design and promote these stories—collaborating with local businesses, community members and Council teams to ensure our stories are as interesting as the people and projects they feature.
