A decade of delicious discoveries: Celebrating 10 years of Food Secrets bus tours

16/07/2025

In 2015, a humble idea took root in the heart of Adelaide’s eastern suburbs — connecting curious locals and adventurous visitors with the incredible food and beverage manufacturers hidden in plain sight.

Ten years on, the Food Secrets bus tours have become a much-loved part of our City’s cultural fabric—celebrating local producers, bringing people together and showcasing the region’s best-kept culinary secrets.

Over the past decade, more than 100 tours have hit the road, welcoming around 1,500 participants to experience the magic that happens behind the scenes at local producers.

The tours have evolved to include the boutique cellar doors and craft breweries that have chosen the City of Norwood Payneham & St Peters as their home.

These businesses form the Eastside Wine & Ale Trail a self-guided tour of more than 11 producers.

Media personality and passionate foodie Jane Reilly OAM has joined us an ambassador this past year, promoting the local flavours and fostering connections between manufacturers and consumers.

From boutique coffee roasters and artisan chocolatiers to urban wineries and craft breweries, the tours offer a hands-on, taste-driven introduction to the thriving food and beverage scene of Adelaide’s east.

Each year, tours are scheduled between February and November, with additional tours tailored to community groups who want to explore and support local.

It’s a format that has remained popular thanks to its perfect blend of flavour, fun and discovery.

On every tour, guests visit four local businesses—selected from a rolling list of 17 participating producers, with new faces joining the journey each year.

Some of the original tour stops, like L'Abruzzese Pasta, Little Bang Brewing and Amadio Wines, have grown so successful they’re now thriving—proof of the program’s powerful impact in helping businesses connect with the community and build their profile and place in the market.

Emerging names such as Prove Patisserie, The Suburban Brew and Rustic Gourmet represent the next generation of passionate local producers joining the tour, keeping the lineup fresh and exciting for returning guests and first-time explorers alike.

Each four-hour tour includes:

  • guided travel on a comfortable bus,
  • behind-the-scenes factory tours and tastings,
  • a delicious local lunch, and
  • a curated shopping bag of goodies and printed keepsakes, including recipes.

At just $55 per person, the tour offers unbeatable value and an unforgettable experience for anyone who loves food and beverages and exploring new places with great company.

As we mark 10 years of Food Secrets bus tours, we celebrate not just the manufacturers and producers who open their doors, but the community who continues to support them by turning up, tasting, learning—and sharing the story.

Join an upcoming tour and see what makes our local manufacturers so special.
