Dozens of local commuters swapped four wheels for two this morning as they joined the City of Norwood Payneham & St Peters’ Ride2Work Day celebration at the Nino Solari Commemorative Path on Osmond Tce, Norwood.
Cyclists were treated to a free light breakfast and great conversation as they shared their experiences of riding through the streets of our City.
Hosted at the intersection of Beulah Road and Osmond Terrace, the event brought together new and seasoned riders each with a shared goal of making their commute healthier, greener and more enjoyable.
More than 200 cyclists travel through this location each morning, which forms a major active transport link for the City.
“It was a great event to celebrate Ride2Work Day and connect with the community who use our cycling infrastructure every day," says Jordan Ward, Manager, Traffic and Integrated Transport.
"Hearing their experiences helps us better plan and inform our strategic priorities.”
The Ride2Work Day initiative forms part of the Council’s broader commitment to supporting active transport, reducing congestion and creating safer, more accessible cycling routes throughout the City.
Riding a bike is one of the easiest and most time-efficient ways to get to work.
By swapping the car, train or bus for a bike, you can get your recommended daily exercise without spending extra time or money at the gym.
The benefits go far beyond fitness, you’ll arrive at work happier, healthier and ready to take on the day.
Participants were encouraged to register their ride to help the Council and Bicycle Network understand where people are cycling, how far they’re travelling, and where improvements can be made.
This data will guide future upgrades to local cycling infrastructure and help shape a city that makes active travel easier for everyone
Missed today’s event? You can still plan your route, register your ride and stay up to date with upcoming active travel events across the City of Norwood Payneham & St Peters.
Whether it’s once a week or every day, every ride makes a difference.
The City of Norwood Payneham & St Peters is proud to champion healthier, more sustainable ways to move and invites everyone to keep the wheels turning beyond Ride2Work Day.
