Get your pool ready for the summer – and save up to 40%

20/10/2025

Daylight savings hits differently for everyone. It can be a reason to celebrate longer days and warmer weather, or to enter the final stretch of the school year.

For Michael Zuodar, it's also a sign that things are about to get busy.

Every year, the Operations Manager at Poolwerx St Peters gets used to seeing new faces almost every day as homeowners from across the eastern suburbs celebrate the official start of pool season.

In addition to selling pool equipment and chemicals, Poolwerx offers maintenance, repairs and mobile pool servicing.

“Basically, we do everything short of actually putting the pool in the ground,” says Michael.

“We also offer any advice or training that customers need, so if you want to know more about how the pool operates or what difference a particular product will make, you can take advantage of our knowledge base.”

And with a huge storewide sale starting soon, this is the perfect time to get ready for swimming season – here are Michael's top tips for getting the most out of your pool this summer.

Take the test

Pools are like snowflakes – no two are exactly alike – so the first step is testing the water.

You need some chlorine to stop the pool turning green, but too much can cause irritation and corrosion.

Ensuring you have the correct pH levels is also important for both comfort and maintenance.

But if testing it yourself sounds like too much of a hassle, you can bring a sample of your pool water into the store instead.

We can test it for free and let you know what needs adjusting in a matter of minutes.

Check in regularly

Using a chlorinator instead of powdered chlorine means you can run your pool with minimal attention, but it's still important to monitor the water throughout the season.

If the kids have a pool party with their friends, that can make a huge difference in just a few hours.

The chlorine level will drop rapidly when lots of people use the pool, and any organic material they bring in can also affect the chemical balance.

That's why it's important to get the water tested regularly.

Some customers come in monthly or fortnightly, but there's no limit – you can come in daily if you want.

Replace the pool boy

People with trees around their pool tend to get a lot of leaf litter in spring and autumn, while summer breezes can bring in dirt from the neighbour's yard.

That's where pool cleaning robots come in.

The new cordless models are easy to use, and we have options to suit every budget.

You simply chuck it in and let it run, then the pool is clean and ready to use whenever you want.

Poolwerx's Season Open sale will run from October 24 until the end of the month, with up to 40% off everything in stock at their St Peters store.
