Set your clothes free: Give them a second life!

20/10/2025

It’s time to clean out your wardrobe for a good cause — Set Your Clothes Free is back and bigger than ever!

On Saturday 1 November, Council has partnered with Green Industries SA to deliver a FREE clothing donation and linen recycling event, helping residents give their unwanted textiles a new purpose.

From 9am to 3pm, you can drop off your pre-loved clothing, footwear and household linens at 13 collection sites across Adelaide and regional South Australia — including right here at the Council’s Depot in Glynde.

This initiative follows the success of the inaugural event earlier this year, which saw almost 20 tonnes of clothing and linens collected for donation and recycling.

High-quality items were rehomed through local charities including Salvos Stores, Red Nose, RSPCA, and the Australian Red Cross, while worn-out linens were processed by TeXtura and transformed into new products, from pet beds to boxing bag filling.

Australians buy an average of 53 new clothing items every year, yet many of these end up unworn or forgotten.

Set Your Clothes Free helps reduce textile waste, supports local charities, and encourages us all to think more sustainably about fashion and household items.

So, if it’s something you’d happily pass on to a friend or family member, it’s perfect for donation. Simply bag up your unwanted:

  • Clothing and footwear in good condition
  • Bedding, towels, curtains, and
  • Other household linens.

Items that can’t be accepted include doonas, pillows, mattresses and any textiles that are heavily worn or damaged.

Let’s make this year’s event the biggest yet!

Drop off your items on Saturday 1 November, between 9am and 3pm, at the Council Depot in Glynde and help give your clothes and linens a second life.

Together, we can keep textiles out of landfill and support our community — one bag at a time.
