AFL Footy Fever at Norwood Oval

With just one month to go, excitement is building across Norwood as the AFL’s biggest festival of football returns to South Australia.

This April, AFL Gather Round will once again bring thousands of fans to Norwood Oval and The Parade for a weekend of elite football, food and celebration.

Norwood Oval will host two exciting matches across the Gather Round weekend.

On Saturday 11 April, the Sydney Swans will take on the Gold Coast Suns in a twilight clash, before the Geelong Cats face the West Coast Eagles on Sunday 12 April, at a sold-out stadium.

With three teams (Geelong, Sydney and West Coast) having never played a match at Norwood Oval, Mayor Robert Bria says the Council is looking forward to welcoming football fans from across Australia back to Norwood and providing a host of opportunities to experience The Parade.

“Gather Round captures the passion and excitement of footy fans right across the country and we’re thrilled to once again host two matches at Norwood Oval and the Norwood Food & Wine Festival.

“Over the past three years we’ve built a strong working relationship with the AFL, Norwood Football Club and the State Government, and we’re ready to deliver another fantastic experience for fans both on and off the field.”

The weekend is about more than just football, with The Parade set to come alive with activity, hospitality and entertainment as thousands of visitors explore Norwood’s vibrant dining and retail scene before and after the games.

A highlight of the weekend will be the celebrated Norwood Food & Wine Festival, which attracted around 90,000 visitors in 2025 and transformed The Parade into one of South Australia’s biggest food and wine celebrations.

“There is no other suburban ground quite like Norwood Oval, where you feel so close to the action during a match and step out of the stadium and straight into a lively street festival,” adds Mayor Bria.

As the countdown continues, fans are encouraged to plan their visit early and keep an eye out for the full program of local events and activations happening across Norwood during Gather Round week.
