Portrait of our City – Submissions open

Our City is made up of places that mean something to the people who live, work and visit here.

The quiet corners, the busy streets, the local favourites, the hidden gems and everything in between.

And you’re invited to help capture the stories that connect you to these special places.

Portrait of our City is a community competition calling on people of all ages and abilities to share a place in our City that they treasure.

Whether it’s a photograph, painting, sketch or digital artwork, we want to see our City through your eyes.

It might be your favourite café where you start your mornings, a park where you spend time with family, a street that feels like home, or a place that holds a special memory.

Big or small, well-known or tucked away, what matters is the connection you feel to it.

Entering is simple.

Choose a place in our City that means something to you and capture it in your preferred creative form.

Either a photograph, a hand-drawn artwork or digital illustration, share what makes it special and what it represents to you.

Selected entries will be featured in our official Council calendar, printed and distributed across the community (approximately 2,000 copies).

Not only will your work be showcased throughout the year, but you’ll also receive copies of the calendar to share with family and friends.

It’s a chance to see your perspective celebrated and shared widely, while contributing to a collective portrait of the place we all call home.

This initiative is about more than images, it’s about connection. It’s about recognising the pride people have in their surroundings and creating a shared record of what makes our city unique, through the eyes of its community.

We know that the most meaningful stories of a place come from the people who experience it every day.
