Your business. Your experience. Our future.

08/10/2026

Local businesses are invited to have their say as the City of Norwood Payneham & St Peters develops its new Economic Prosperity Plan 2027–2032.

The City is home to more than 7,000 businesses, spanning retail, hospitality, health, professional services, manufacturing, education, creative industries and more.

Together, these businesses provide local jobs, attract investment and visitors, and play an important role in making the City a great place to live, work and do business.

But the way we do business is changing.

Technology is transforming how businesses operate, people are working and shopping differently, industries and workforce needs are evolving, and the City continues to grow.

The new Economic Prosperity Plan 2027–2032 will set a strategic direction for the local economy and identify priorities and actions that can support business growth, investment, jobs and long-term economic prosperity.

The first stage of consultation is now underway, and the business survey is an important opportunity for local businesses to tell Council about their experiences, challenges and opportunities.

We want to understand:

  • What it is like to do business in our City.
  • What is working well and what could be improved.
  • Opportunities and barriers to business growth and investment.
  • How our economy, workforce and industries are changing.
  • The strengths of our local economy and where we can build on them.
  • What opportunities should be pursued over the next five to 10 years.
  • What role Council and other partners can play in supporting future prosperity.

Business feedback will be considered alongside economic data, research, benchmarking and emerging trends to help develop the priorities and actions within the draft Plan.

The Plan will help guide Council's economic development priorities over the next five years, including opportunities to support business growth and investment, jobs and workforce development, key industries and business precincts, and Council's approach to business support and engagement.

Business Champion Maria Davies-Morgante, Commercial Director at Eclipse Aboriginal Art, said being involved in the process was an important opportunity for local businesses.

“Running a business gives you a very practical perspective on what helps businesses grow and what can sometimes get in the way. There are also so many different businesses operating across our City, and each will have a different experience.

"I think this is a great opportunity for local businesses to share what they’re seeing, the challenges they’re facing and where they see opportunities for the future. The more businesses that take part, the better understanding Council will have of what our local economy needs and where it can make a difference.”

Have your say

The first stage of consultation includes a business survey, targeted roundtables, a City forum and individual stakeholder discussions.

The business survey is open until Monday, 7 December 2026.

Your feedback will help shape the future economic vision and direction for the City, as well as the priorities, opportunities and actions that will form the draft Economic Prosperity Plan 2027–2032.

A second stage of consultation will provide the opportunity for businesses and the community to comment on the draft Plan before it is finalised and presented to Council for consideration.

Complete the business survey and help shape the future of our local economy.
