Build confidence and learn practical self-defence skills

20/10/2026

Feeling confident and safe in everyday life is important at every age.

Council is offering reduced-price self-defence classes for people aged 50 and over, providing an accessible opportunity to learn practical skills that can help you feel more confident and prepared in different situations.

Self-defence is about more than physical strength. The classes focus on developing awareness, learning simple techniques and understanding how to respond if you ever feel uncomfortable or threatened.

Importantly, these classes are not intense exercise sessions. They are designed to be accessible and suitable for people of different abilities, with a focus on practical skills, confidence and learning in a supportive environment.

Offering classes at a reduced price helps make these opportunities more accessible to our community, ensuring cost is not a barrier to participating in activities that support confidence, well-being and independence.

Whether you are looking to learn something new, build your confidence or simply gain some practical skills, these classes provide a welcoming opportunity to take positive steps towards feeling safer and more prepared.

A fast, effective, self defence system. Suitable for all levels of fitness.
