St Peters Child Care Centre celebrates 50 years

30/10/2026

The St Peters Child Care Centre & Preschool has been at the heart of our community for 50 years, creating a place where generations of local children have taken their first steps into learning, made their first friendships and created memories that last a lifetime.

Child care and preschools do far more than provide early education, they create safe, nurturing spaces where children can build confidence, develop social skills and discover the joy of learning, helping to give them the best possible start as they prepare for school and beyond.

For families, centres like St Peters Child Care Centre & Preschool provide trusted support and peace of mind, enabling parents and carers to participate in the workforce, pursue study and contribute to the wider community, knowing their children are in capable and caring hands.

Over five decades the Centre has become an important part of the social fabric of our community. It brings families together, fosters friendships and creates a sense of belonging from the very beginning.

It also reflects the diversity of our community, providing a place where children and families can share experiences, celebrate different cultures and build connections.

The Centre’s contribution extends beyond its role in early learning.

By supporting working families and providing meaningful employment, child care and preschool services contribute to the strength of our local economy, while investing in the well-being and future of the next generation.

Mayor Robert Bria says the 50-year milestone is an opportunity to recognise the lasting contribution of the Centre, its staff and the many families who have been part of its story.

“This milestone is a wonderful reflection of the dedication of the staff, past and present, and the trust placed in the Centre by generations of local families.

“For 50 years, St Peters Child Care Centre & Preschool has been a place of learning, care and connection, helping to shape young lives while creating wonderful memories for children and families across our community.”

“I am incredibly proud that the Centre has continued to play such an important role in the life of our community.

“Its impact reaches well beyond the early years of a child’s life, it supports families, strengthens connections and helps build a community where people feel they belong.

“We look forward to celebrating this special milestone and the many years of memories still to come.”

As we celebrate 50 years, we recognise that this milestone is built on people.

Emily, a parent whose child was recently enrolled at the Centre, says, “The staff are truly wonderful with the kids. We receive great communication and updates and our kids have loved the nutritious and tasty food served”.

Another parent, Bill, says, “We love the staff and facility. We're very grateful our children were able to attend here, and we'll be sad to say goodbye when our youngest starts school next year”.
